Yellowstone is actually my favorite park, followed closely by Yosemite, but I lived in Las Vegas for a few years, so Zion has presented the most opportunity. Utah is a spectacular state, top to bottom, and Moab holds a very special place in my heart. Not simply because I own a Jeep.
Yellowstone is harder to get to, both because it's so popular and because it's a pain in the ass to get to when you have other obligations. You have to make time for it. It deserves that kind of effort. It's got nostalgia, too, though. It was my first national park adventure as a kid, and where and when I learned to shoot with an SLR.
I've owned three Jeeps, each its own set of problems and adventures. Moab being a Jeep mecca is part of it, you get an Earldom just for showing up with your Jeep, but man, that scenery. The rocks, the air, the dust, it's got its own magic. The light is something else.
Nah, it's not that deep. Arches National Park is early in my adventures, and this series is a collection of my favorites from each as I try to bucket list the whole set. To wind up in both, I'm gonna have to find someone doing something that strikes a chord.
Most of what's here is just me sharing my favorites. I have hundreds of photos of each location that I've been to so far, but some jump out at me, some I'm proud of. I have more to add, and more trips to take. But I share them with some purpose: National parks are one of the greatest treasures any country can set aside for its people. They are truly ours to cherish and appreciate, and they need to be protected, and preserved.
